Hi, I’m Lisa.
Chasing ladybirds is a blog which tells the story of our life with and the journey of grief after losing our daughter Ruby. My hope is that it will help in my own personal journey and if my experiences, thoughts, tears and openness helps just one other person, then I’m good with that. I am not a natural writer, so for me this is a huge and scary step, so bare with me as I learn to express myself through words and pictures. I also hope to share what life was like as a special needs mummy, and what that journey looked like.
I am wife to Andy and Mummy to Ruby and Ezra. Ruby was 5 when she gained her angel wings in November 2017. Ruby was born with severe brain injury, her poor condition was not expected, but she was extremely strong and have survived and come home with us. Ruby was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Dystonia, Cortical Visual Impairment, GORD, the list goes on, we were told she was life limited. My boy Ezra is 3 and is a typical toddler boy, he is soft hearted but also has a spark, his bond with Ruby was huge and natural.
I want for my blog and Instagram to be approachable and show real life, I see it as being natural and not too glossy or staged, so thanks for taking the time to come by and I hope you stick around and share this unknown journey with me and help me along the way.
